Vernon K. Jacobs

Vern is a CPA, a CLU and a Fellow of The Life Management Institute. He has "big six" experience and served as the V.P./Controller of a major life and health insurance company for seven years. He has been a tax editor and consultant for more than twenty years and has written nine books on legal methods of saving taxes and solving tax problems. He was a pioneer in the development and marketing of tax planning software for desktop computers and has been a prolific designer of spreadsheet templates (aka "worksheets") to run the numbers on an assortment of financial and tax decisions. He is now heavily involved in Internet Web site development and is learning to use the hypertext markup language (HTML). He also manages two Internet e-mail discussion lists.

Vern is the author and self-publisher of The Jacobs Report on Asset Protection Strategies, a monthly newsletter on legal ways to protect your assets from future lawsuits. For three years, he was the consulting editor for the Journal of Accounting and EDP and for six years has been the software columnist for the Personal Financial Planning Journal. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Chapter of the Society of Chartered Life Underwriters and for the Kansas City Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning. For four years, he was the tax partner for a group of financial planners and has been a registered representative and registered investment advisor. He now works as an independent practitioner on a fee-for-service basis, in addition to his work as an author and self-publisher.

Vernon is currently the author of two e-mail newsletters - Tax E-Newsand Asset Protection Strategies, and is the Tax Editor for OFFSHORE, an e-mail newsletter. A self-publisher and information entrepreneur, he has devoted many hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to learn the mysteries of marketing. He is now learning how to market his information products via the Internet.
